Q. What are the ages of the young people?
A. 10 – 18 years
Q. What does the job of Residential Support Worker entail?
A. Supporting young people with complex needs within a residential unit based in the community. Assisting with behaviour management, life skills, education, activities, etc. Ensuring a safe, secure and stimulating environment at all times.
Q. Where are the homes?
A. Across England and Wales
Q. Why are the young people placed with Continuum Group?
A. The young people at Continuum Group have unique histories, some of the young people have emotional and behavioural difficulties, challenging behaviour, self harming behaviour, absconding behaviour, etc.
Q. What are the hours of work?
A. Hours of work are usually 10.00am one day to 10.00am the next day. The shifts consist of a 10.00am start, on duty until midnight. Go to sleep at the unit between the hours of midnight to 8.00am and then on duty from 8.00am to 10.00am. The next staff team will then take over.
Full time hours consist of 10 shifts per pay month.
Part time hours consist of 5 shifts per pay month.
N.B – The hours of work may vary from home to home and can be discussed at interview.
Q. Is the post subject to a probationary period?
A. Yes, all posts are subject to a six month probationary period.
Q. What training will I receive?
A. Each employee undertakes an intensive three week induction programme including First Aid, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Child Protection and a four day course named Continuum Intervention Programme, this is the model of intervention we use to manage the young people who live at Continuum Group. Following these two weeks of classroom based training your third week will consist of shadow shifts. After completion of probationary period (6 months) employees are eligible to be considered for NVQ 3 in Caring for Children and Young People.
Q. What happens once I’ve sent in my application?
A. On receipt of you completed application form, you should receive notification in the post within 7 working days if you have applied from a vacancy. However if there are no vacancies available at the present time we will keep you on hold until one becomes available. Following application stage we invite successful candidates to a recruitment session which consists of a presentation about the company, a written exercise and a short interview.
